Tamang are the 5th populated tribes of Nepal, enriched with similar Buddhist religion and cultures to their Tibetan predecessors. The Tamang tribes settled throughout the country, especially around the Kathmandu Valley rim. Including the Nepal Mid-East and West and the Rasuwa district, on the foothills of Langtang and Ganesh Himal.
Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley Route
Tamang Heritage Trail starts with an exciting scenic overland journey to reach Syabrubesi farm village around Rasuwa district. From here, the trek follows towards higher hills to reach Gatlang Village, the largest Tamang settlement. At Gatlang, have ample time to explore the village and immense cultures, then walk further north through Tatopani Village.
The walk leads close to the border of Nepal and Tibet, and then the route diverts with a climb to Nagethali Hilltop. Enjoy the fascinating panorama of the Central Himalayas with Langtang and Ganesh Himal, including some peaks across the border in Tibet. From Nagethali Hill, after a delightful moment with fantastic mountain views, the trail follows to Thuman and Briddim Villages. Trekkers can experience more of the Tamang age-old cultures along with the typical organic food of the Tamang. From Briddim Village is the end of Tamang Heritage Trail, and then the adventure follows through the lovely forest.
To reach the main popular trail towards beautiful Langtang Valley, with a difference between the beaten trail and the mainstream trekking routes. Trekkers can experience the difference between the Tamang Heritage Trail and Langtang Valley routes, but it leads to enjoyable walks.
As the trek progresses past Langtang and Mundu Villages, then reach the picturesque Langtang Valley at Kyanjin Gompa. It is the last settlement around the Langtang Valley, and trekkers can enjoy the comfort of the nice accommodations and good food.
Kyanjin Gompa is a perfect place for a rest day to enjoy hiking to the famous scenic viewpoints at Kyanjin and Tserko-Ri. These high ridges offer mind-blowing panoramas of the surrounding towering peaks of Langtang Himal, as far as Jugal Himal.
After a most exciting and delightful time and experience, then the adventure slowly comes to an end. The trail follows downhill through lovely woods to reach back at Syabrubesi for the last overnight around the country of Tamang. From Syabrubesi, an exciting drive brings you to Kathmandu after a memorable experience on the Tamang Heritage Trail & Langtang Valley Trekking.

The best seasons for Tamang Heritage & Langtang Valley Trekking are spring and autumn/fall. Spring starts from March to May, a lively season with longer sunlight hours for pleasant walks and views. The best times and seasons are when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons of various species and colors. In spring, with cold mornings, late afternoon, and night, it can get cloudy with chances of light showers and snowfall sometimes.
The next best season is the autumn/fall, which begins from September to November. It is the high season for various adventures in Nepal including Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley Trek.
